Elevated serum levels of these drugs have been associated with adverse cardiovascular effects including QT interval prolongation, torsades de pointes, cardiac arrhythmia, and sudden death. So the concomitant administration of Rulide with these drugs is contra-indicated. The concurrent administration of Roxithromycin and warfarin may result in the inhibition of warfarin metabolism, and increase the risk of bleeding especially in severely ill, elderly or compromised patients. The co-administration of digoxin and Rulide may result in increased serum digoxin levels resulting in digoxin toxicity. Macrolide antibiotics may inhibit hepatic enzymes responsible for benzodiazepine metabolism, leading to increased plasma concentrations of benzodiazepines through reduced clearance, prolonged half life and increased volume of distribution resulting in benzodiazepine toxicity.

The recommended daily dose of Rulide is 150-300 mg twice daily. Rulide should be taken 30 min before meals. The dose of Rulide in children is 2.5-5mg/kg twice daily.
